Bead houses

I've recently been investigating the different hands-on materials that Nienhuis produce to support children with their understanding of number.  I LOVE these bead houses which allow the children to explore all the different ways of decomposing numbers and helps with place value, addition and subtraction. Usborne

I have always loved new books and Usborne has stayed a firm favourite for me as a specialist teacher.  There is always such a great selection to spark curiosity in even the most reluctant of readers.  Have a look at what is on offer this season here

National Year of Reading 2026

It looks like 2026 is going to be my absolute favourite year  - any year that is a national year of reading can't be otherwise! There are already so many different enticing ways to encourage children to branch out and expand their reading repertoire.  I particularly like this monthly book mission published by the Book Trust. The charity that is responsible for distributing free book packs to all babies and toddlers through their fantastic 'Book Start' programme.
